Get your results in minutes

Getting your AiP should take about 10 minutes. It may take a little longer depending on how many types of income and outgoings you have.

Book your mortgage appointment

Once you have your Agreement in Principle, you can book an appointment with one of our mortgage advisers.

No effect on your credit rating

Getting an AiP won’t affect your ability to apply for loans or credit elsewhere – even if we’re unable to lend the amount you need.

No mortgage commitment

You won’t need to choose a particular type of mortgage for an AiP, so you’re not committing to anything by continuing.

Check that you're eligible

You'll need to be:

  • Receiving a regular income that you expect to continue (applies to only 1 person in a joint application)
  • Working for at least 3 months if your income comes from employment
  • Up to date on payments for any loans or credit
  • Planning to buy, remortgage a home in the UK that you’ll live in
  • Aged 18 or older, with the right to live in the UK permanently and 2 years’ UK address history
  • Looking for a repayment mortgage, not interest only

If you’re applying for shared ownership, Right to Buy, Family Springboard, buy-to-let or a mortgage with more than two people, call our mortgage support team on 0333 202 7580 to book an appointment with a mortgage adviser.

We’re here Monday to Friday from 7am to 8pm, Saturdays and Sundays from 7am to 5pm, and on bank holidays from 9am to 5pm. Call charges

If you're looking for a Buy-to-let property or a mortgage for 3 or 4 people, please call us on 0800 197 1081.

What you'll need

We’ll ask you to provide the following details. If you’re planning to share your mortgage with someone else, we’ll also ask them to provide some of this information, too.

  • The amount you want to borrow
  • Other mortgages you may have
  • Your addresses during the last 3 years
  • Your basic income
  • Any benefits or maintenance paid to you
  • Payments you received, such as commission, bonuses, or dividends
  • Any spending, loans, card balances or other types of credit you won't pay off before the new mortgage starts
  • Financial commitments you expect to take on once you’ve started your new mortgage.

I've read and understood everything above and I'm ready to start my Agreement in Principle.
